B. C. Basak is Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering, Stamford University Bangladesh. His teaching experience spans 25 years at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, and 08 years at Stamford University Bangladesh. He has been Professor and Head of Civil Engineering Department and Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology. His teaching, research and administrative experience spans more than 40 years.

Dr Basak joined Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission in 1979 and worked there as scientist for about 7 years. He developed optimal design methods for designing contraction and expansion regions of hydraulic structures, jointly with Prof. P. K. Swamee and published 4 papers in the Journal of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), in 1991 to 1994. In 1998 he developed another simplified modern design formula for designing alluvial canals and published a paper in the journal of Indian Water Resources Society.

Dr. Basak has authored more than 20 technical research papers published in prestigious national and international journals. Currently he is editor of “Stamford Journal of Civil Engineering.”

He is life fellow of the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh and is a life member of the Indian Water Resources Society. Basak has keen interest in different seers’ review on Shrimad Bagvat Geeta, one of the most cited ancient Indian Philosophical Doctrines. He believes in the explanation of different chapters of this famous treatise in the light of modern scientific methodology.
