BGRFHon. Dr. Sockalingam Yogalingam (Yogi)

Hon. Dr. Sockalingam Yogalingam  is a politician, who is a member of parliament for “Transnational Government for Tamil Eelam (TGTE)” www.tgte.org in the United Kingdom and hold the position of Deputy Minister for Prime Minister Office of TGTE.  

He studied at Jaffna Central College from grade 6 to advance level before leaving Sri Lanka in 1985. When he arrived in UK, he completed his HND in Computer Science in Kilburn Poly Technic. Also, he studied Political Science at University of West Minister and Computer Science at City University. He has the seven siblings and married to Meera with two kids. He is the Sales & Letting Director of “Yogi Estate Agents” www.yogiestaagents.com.

He is one of the National Councillor of “National Liberal Party” www.nationalliberal.org, he had contested in the European Parliament Election in the Greater London area of UK in May 2014, contested in the UK general election 2015 in the seat of Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner. contested for Local Council Election as independent Candidate in Rayners Lane Area. He is an “Assistant Director” of the human rights group “ACT NOW” www.act-now.info, Executive Committee member of “Nations without States” https://www.facebook.com/NationsWithoutStates, he was the Former Secretary of “Pungudutivu Welfare Association (PWA - UK) - Charitable Organisation registered in England & Wales” www.pungudutivu.org, he was the Former Executive Committee Member of “Jaffna Central College old Boys & Girls Association UK 2016 - 2018” www.jccobauk.com 

He has participated in protest and events against Sri Lankan Government for genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka in many places such as events in British Parliament, UNHRC Council, in front of 10 Downing Street, in front of Sri Lankan High Commission, Westminster Square, in Trafalgar Square, Oxford Union and so on. He is working very hard to achieve the Peace, Justice and Permanent solution (Tamil Eelam) for Tamils in Sri Lanka and Tamils around the world.

Due to his Human Rights Work, International Tamil University in USA have honoured him with “Honorary Doctorate Awards” in June 2023.
